Charles Brown, AIA, LEED© AP
Brown Architecture
Charles grew up around the building industry and has been practicing architecture for over 25 years. Brown Architecture was founded in 1996. The firm emphasizes an integrated design process to create environmentally responsive solutions, and in 2002 was awarded the Sustainable Business Award by Sustainable NC. Charles has led the design of numerous green and LEED projects, and consults with designers and owners to implement green design strategies and facilitate green design workshops. He’s an advisor to the US EPA Commercial Building Design Program, and serves on the Appalachian State University Interior Design Advisory Committee.
He is active in a number of groups promoting sustainable design, served as a committee chair to create the High Performance Design Guidelines for Triangle Region Public Facilities, and was a founding board member of the US Green Building Council NC Triangle Chapter.
Charles is a frequent volunteer and invited speaker promoting green design strategies. Brown feels beautiful and inspiring buildings result from a harmony and understanding of the surrounding environment in addition to the functional needs of its occupants. His experience includes a broad range of educational, commercial, residential, and public projects.
Charles is the proud father of two tree-hugging daughters, and is perhaps best known as Coach of the fabulous Chasers U12 soccer team.
